Action movies are a film genre where action sequences, such as fights, shootouts, stunts, car chases or explosions either take precedence or, in finer examples of the genre, are used as a form of exposition and character development. The action typically involves individual efforts on the part of the hero,
in contrast with most war films. Action films tend to be expensive when requiring big budget special effects and stunt work. They are the top list of Action Movies.

1. Die Hard

Die Hard  is the excellent action film.The movie is based on a 1979 novel by Roderick Thorp titled Nothing Lasts Forever, itself a sequel to the book The Detective, which was previously made into a 1968 movie starring Frank Sinatra. Die Hard is all action and a bit of humor from Bruce Willis.Die hard 3was good and jeremy irons was good.Its the most entertaining and great movie.Bruce Willis gives a amazing performance in perhaps one of the best movies of the 1980s.

2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator 2 was a significant box office and critical success. It had an impact on popular culture, and is considered by many to be hugely influential in the genres of action and science fiction.The film won several awards including four Academy Awards for makeup, sound mixing, sound editing and visual effects.It’s the best of Arnold. Really stunning effects and great storyline.The Terminator movie made Arnold  known in the world and launched one of the greatest action star career’s in history. Arnold made more for his acting role in T2 than the entire production cost of the first Terminator movie.

3. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the adventure film. Raiders of the Lost Ark should have won best picture Oscar for 1981.The film also starred Paul Freeman as Indiana’s nemesis, French archaeologist Rene Belloq, John Rhys-Davies as Indiana’s sidekick Sallah, and Denholm Elliott as Indiana’s colleague, Marcus Brody.Raiders of the Lost Ark is a movie to be savored by viewers of all ages and all persuasions.

4. The Matrix

The Matrix is a 1999 science fiction action film.The film describes a future in which reality perceived by humans is actually the Matrix, a simulated reality created by sentient machines in order to pacify and subdue the human population while their bodies’ heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. It’s a brilliant movie on a number of different levels - the directing is excellent, the camera work is great,Acting is good, good actors, etc..There are so many great things in this movie.

5. Aliens

Aliens is frequently listed as one of the best sequels ever made. Aliens is a 1986 science fiction,action film.Aliens is also blessed with faults that still manage to add entertainment value. Aliens is the best trapped-with-a-monster-right-behind-you movie of all time.The acting is good, especially from Sigourney Weaver, Paul Reiser and Lance Henriksen.The film went on to win for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Effects Editing.

6. The Bourne Identity

The Bourne Identity is a 2002 spy film loosely based on Robert Ludlum’s novel.The character development does leave a little to be desired, but the action more than makes up for it. The scenes involving Bourne fighting hand-to-hand are very good, and the shootouts, while not plentiful, are great. The great Chris Cooper and Julia Stiles perform secondary roles along this outstanding action movie. The film is genuinely exciting throughout, which is more than what can be said about many recent action films.

7. Lethal Weapon

Lethal Weapon is an Academy Award nominated action film. These movies fall into the action-comedy, thriller genre,and are generally considered to typify the buddy cop plot device. Lethal Weapon - one of the original tag-team action comedies. Lethal Weapon is a great set of movies. All four of them are good, which is rare for a sequel.

8. Desperado

Desperado is a 1995 action thriller film.The film stars Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek. Desperado is a simple story about one man’s need to avenge the murder of his lover, or, you know, an eye for an eye and all that stuff. Desperado is a kind of movie that really needs no story and basicily there isn’t really any. All the fun characters, dialogue and action sequences make you forget that there isn’t really a story.  Overall, Desperado is an amazing film.

9. The Professional

The Professional and Léon the Professional is a French 1994 action drama film.It stars Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, and a young Natalie Portman in her first starring role. This film was absolutely amazing. Besson’s film is only infrequently violent, but when that violence comes, there’s a dark boisterousness to it all.  It’s fantastic.

10. Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a 2005 action and comedy film, directed by Doug Liman. The film stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a bored married couple who learn that they are both assassins hired by competing agencies to kill each other. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a cynical yet brutally honest take on marriage between two death dealers who are surprisingly human.  Not even high-paid, globetrotting assassins are immune from the difficulty of maintaining a relationship when reality sets in. It’s a  really good  and excellent movie.
